Chisholm Trail Parkway: Hulen Street Solution Coming Soon!

Good afternoon –

Motorists traveling along the Hulen Street bridge will get some relief towards the end of February as Chisholm Trail Parkway related construction has caused changes in traffic patterns. The NTTA and the City of Fort Worth have been working closely together to develop a solution to alleviate congestion along Hulen Street. As a result, Chisholm Trail Parkway crews will stage construction of a storm drain line in the area which will allow them to expedite the construction of an additional northbound lane of traffic near the intersection of Hulen Street and Vickery Boulevard. The new traffic pattern is expected to be in place by late February.

As work continues along the corridor, the NTTA continues to meet with businesses and residents near the project limits. The NTTA hosted the second Business Information Group (BIG) meeting for businesses along Interstate 30 and the downtown Fort Worth area on Jan. 23 at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The I-30 group is the second one formed since construction on the project began. These groups were formed to keep business owners abreast of construction progress and anticipated construction schedule. The Hulen Street bridge business area BIG meets quarterly and is scheduled to meet in mid-March.

Upcoming Outreach Meetings

A Community Meeting also is planned for the southern Tarrant County portion of the corridor. Staff from the NTTA, Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Fort Worth will be on hand to discuss the project on Feb. 7, at the Fort Worth Academy, 7301 Dutch Branch Road. A meeting for business owners will be held at 2 p.m. and the meeting for the general public will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The entire project is expected to open to traffic in mid-2014. Once built, the toll road will extend 27.6 miles and will provide drivers traveling down I-35W from downtown Fort Worth to Cleburne an alternate route. For more information and to sign up to receive construction updates, please go to www.ntta.org or email chisholmtrail@ntta.org.

Also, if your homeowners/neighborhood association, civic organization or any other group you with whom you are associated would like a presentation on the Chisholm Trail project, please let me know or send a note to SpeakersBureau@ntta.org.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great day!

Southwest High School Mirage '12

Safety security and celebration, These arc our goals for MIRAGE '12.

MIRAGE '12 is a drug-free and alcohol-free event for the Southwest High School senior class of 2012. Totaling approximately 350 students, and their guests. A tradition since 1990. MIRAGE will be held March 31. 2012 immediately following the Prom to provide an alternative to the party scene. In the style of a “lock-in", MIRAGE is an all-night party sponsored by PTA and hosted by parents of" SHS seniors.  This year it will take place at Alley Cats, a local game and entertainment center.

The cause is worthy-- and requires significant fundraising. Each week we gain parent and community support.  I hope to have the support of the Wedgwood Association as well.

Please consider making a monetary contribution to support MIRAGE '12. Your participation will bring our community closer to a drug-free and alcohol-free environment.

Since MIRAGE is an arm of PTA, all donations are tax deductible under Internal Revenue Tax Code 501(c)(3). Supporters will be recognized in printed materials, on the evening of the event and in the Southwest High School PTA Newsletter that reaches over 1.500 homes.

Please make your check payable to: SHS MIRAGE

Thank you for your investment in our community.

Relief on Hulen Street coming soon

The City of Fort Worth and the North Texas Tollway Authority have worked together to develop a solution that will help alleviate construction-related congestion along the Hulen Street bridge.

Chisholm Trail Parkway project incorporates residents’ feedback

With construction of the corridor under way, crews are working to implement some of the project’s environmentally friendly and noise-mitigation efforts.

New markers remind residents: ‘Only Rain Down the Storm Drain’

Everything in our storm drain flows downstream, ultimately polluting creeks, rivers and lakes. That’s why Fort Worth’s Stormwater Management program is placing more inlet markers throughout the city to remind residents that stormwater inlets are intended solely for stormwater.

Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in mid-2014.

Closure of eastbound Interstate 20 from Bryant Irvin Road to Hulen Street tonight

Texas Department of Transportation crews will close eastbound Interstate 20 from Bryant Irvin Road to Hulen Street, from 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, through 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, to install new overhead sign bridges.

To facilitate the detour of traffic, the Bryant Irvin Road bridge will be closed to through traffic over I-20. Motorists traveling eastbound will exit at Bryant Irvin Road, follow the frontage road and enter I-20 after Hulen Street. Police will be posted at the intersections along the detour route.

SH 183 WB Frontage Road Traffic Switch Starting Jan. 24

TxDOT crews will also switch traffic to a new section of the westbound SH 183 frontage road between Insurance Lane and Bryant Irvin Road beginning Tuesday, Jan. 24, weather permitting. The existing one-lane detour will be abandoned and westbound frontage road traffic will now have two through lanes at Insurance Lane.

Both construction activities above are part of the $117 million access improvement project at I-20/State Highway 183isin preparation for the future SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway. The project will construct several new bridges, access ramps and new SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage roads as well as lowering and rebuilding the SH 183 main lanes.  Completion is scheduled for spring 2013.

Lane Reduction along Oakmont Trail

Crews working on the southern Tarrant County portion of the Chisholm Trail Parkway have closed one eastbound and one westbound lane of Oakmont Boulevard between Harris Parkway and Oakmont Trail. The closures are necessary as crews prepare for a future detour in the area. The configuration will be place daily from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m., through Monday, Feb. 6.

_________________________________________________________________

Closure of Rutledge Street postponed

Work scheduled to occur along Rutledge Street has been postponed.  When the construction work begins, Rutledge Street will be reconfigured to "dead end" near Montgomery Street. Montgomery Street will be lengthened so that motorists are able to access the CTP frontage roads.

All closures are subject to weather conditions and will be postponed if necessary. The NTTA appreciates the public's patience during this construction and reminds everyone to use extra precaution while driving through work zones.

For more information about upcoming lane closures and traffic-related news along NTTA roadways, go to www.NTTA.org and click on the "Chisholm Trail Lane/Ramp Closures" listing on the home page or call (817) 207-0184.
